Are you looking to treat yourself this spooky season? Well, the best trick-or-treat at our practice is both a trick and a treat! QWO is the latest trick to treat your cellulite, as well as a treat for you to get a smoother behind.
Read through the answers to some of these most frequently asked questions to learn more about how QWO cellulite treatment works, how long it lasts and whether it could be right for you.
1. What Is QWO and How Does It Work?
QWO is the first and only FDA-approved injectable cellulite treatment. To understand how it works, we need to discuss what causes cellulite in the first place.
Cellulite occurs when bands of connective tissue under the skin, called septae, become what’s known as fibrous, or tight. When these tight bands pull the skin downward, the fat cells directly under your skin are forced to create small bumps on either side of the septae. The result is the characteristic “orange peel” or “cottage cheese” texture of cellulite that is very common among women.
QWO is an injectable enzyme that dissolves these tight septae, thus releasing their pull on the skin and smoothing its texture on the surface.
2. Who’s a Good Candidate for QWO?
Virtually anyone in good health who is looking to improve the appearance of cellulite and is not allergic to any of the injectable ingredients contained in the product could be a good candidate for QWO.
During your QWO appointment, up to 12 injections may be used, depending on the size of the area being treated and the severity of dimpling. Most people see the best results after a series of 2 to 3 treatment sessions, each spaced 21 days apart.
3. How Long Does QWO Last?
We know that QWO results can last at least one year, but it very well may last longer than that. Because this injectable cellulite treatment is fairly new, it will take some time to pinpoint exactly how long we can expect it to last.
Keep in mind that it can take several weeks to see noticeable results from QWO, so do not be discouraged if you are not seeing immediate results. Similarly, most people will require up to three treatments to see optimal results from QWO.
4. How Does QWO Stack up Against Other Cellulite Treatments?
Other cellulite treatment options work by physically releasing the tight septae that cause cellulite dimpling, while QWO appears to work chemically to dissolve them. For this reason, QWO is generally less invasive and may result in less downtime after treatment.
We do know that the results of other cellulite treatments such as Cellfina™ can last up to three years, though QWO’s longevity is still being investigated.
If you are considering cellulite treatments but aren’t sure which could be right for you, schedule a consultation with an experienced provider to discuss your options and find the best fit.
