With the new year just around the corner, people are beginning to think of their New Year’s resolution. While the top resolutions typically include eating healthier, exercising more, losing weight, or quitting smoking, your skin wants to have a say in your decision this year.

Your skin is tired of looking drab and showing signs of aging. It wants to start the new year off looking more youthful and showing off a new glowing appearance. The good news is there are a variety of med spa treatments designed to rejuvenate the skin and give you a healthy new glow just in time for the new year.

Injectables

While you do your best to keep your skin happy and healthy with over-the-counter wrinkle creams, these products only target the surface, not the deeper layers where wrinkles really develop. As you age, your skin loses elasticity.

Wrinkles begin to grow deeper and more defined and eventually your surface treatments aren’t enough to stave them off. This is where injectable treatments, such as BOTOX and dermal fillers can target deeper wrinkles, giving you much more dramatic results with no downtime.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

Cosmetic treatments, such as BOTOX and injectable fillers are a quick and easy way to address your facial concerns this new year.

BOTOX injections work to treat dynamic wrinkles. These wrinkles are caused by your everyday facial movements, such as frown lines or crow’s feet. BOTOX injections take a few minutes and work to relax the muscles responsible for these wrinkles, helping to reduce their appearance.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers not only work to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, but they also help to replace lost facial volume. Fillers, like JUVÉDERM®, inject a gel-like substance like hyaluronic acid directly into the wrinkles.

These injections take mere minutes and reduce the appearance of wrinkles quickly. Fillers like JUVÉDERM Voluma XC and JUVÉDERM Volbella XC work to restore lost volume in the cheeks and lips, giving you a more youthful appearance that can last for up to two years.

Microneedling and Microdermabrasion

Microneedling and microdermabrasion are two other treatment options that require little to no downtime and use your body’s own natural healing response to improve the texture and appearance of your skin.

Microneedling uses a specialized device that delivers hundreds of microscopic channels into your skin. Your skin sees this as an injury, promoting new collagen production and healthy new skin cells. Each treatment lasts about an hour and you can see results very soon after your first treatment session.

You may experience mild swelling and redness for the first few days, but as your skin heals, you will continue to see improvements in deep wrinkles, acne scars and a reduction in pore size. The production of new skin cells and collagen help to create smoother, firmer and more toned skin.

While similar to microneedling, microdermabrasion uses your body’s natural healing ability. This non-invasive treatment uses small crystals to gently exfoliate and remove the upper layer of dead skin cells.

Your body interprets this removal as an injury, triggering the production of new skin cells and collagen. Treatments are quick and require no downtime. While you may see results after one treatment, multiple treatments often reveal optimal results.

Resurfacing and Rejuvenation

Resurfacing and rejuvenation treatments use lasers, light and radiofrequency technology in order to improve your skin tone, reduce the appearance of aging and sun damage, as well as address other skin concerns.

While these treatment options can require downtime, they do provide more dramatic results than other med spa treatment options.

  • Halo laser skin rejuvenation — The Halo laser combines ablative and non-ablative laser therapy. This unique treatment option requires less downtime than traditional lasers while still providing dramatic results. The Halo system can improve skin tone, heal sun damage, minimize wrinkles and other signs of aging, as well improve overall skin texture
  • Sciton BBL Photofacial — If skin tone issues, such as brown spots or redness, are your biggest concern, Sciton BBL photofacial may be the treatment to help you start the new year with a fresh new glow. This treatment uses intense pulsed light therapy to encourage new collagen growth and remove the melanin that contributes to dark spots and pigment lesions.
  • Pellevé® wrinkle reduction – The Pelleve wrinkle reduction system uses innovative radiofrequency to help you smooth away lines and wrinkles. The radiofrequency waves gently heat the underlying dermis of the skin, helping to increase collagen production. While you may see results after only one treatment, many patients continue to experience wrinkle reduction and improved skin texture in the months following treatment.
