Before Your Profound Treatment
There isn’t a lot you need to do prior to your Profound treatment. The biggest thing is setting up a consultation with a Profound treatment expert. You’ll want to show up with your questions and goals ready so they can clarify anything that confuses you and make a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs.
Besides this, you want to cleanse your skin the night before your treatment. Avoid applying makeup, lotions and other products, as these can interfere with your results.
During Your Profound Treatment
There is a small amount of prep needed to get you ready for your treatment. This includes professionally cleaning the skin and applying local or topical anesthetic, depending on your needs and pain threshold. Once the numbing is in effect, we can start treatment.
The length of the procedure varies based on how much skin is being treated and if you wish to add other treatments or skincare. Most patients are done in about 45 minutes. Throughout the process, all you need to do is sit back and relax.
After Your Profound Treatment
It is normal to experience some degree of discomfort after your Profound treatment. This quickly goes away, and your provider should offer you a plan for managing any pain you might experience before sending you home.
There are about 7 days of downtime needed while the skin heals. It is perfectly fine to continue working from home and taking care of household tasks. However, you will need to stay out of the sun, and depending on your work environment, stay at home and off-camera to hide the redness and swelling.
Results steadily develop over a period of weeks, with clear changes being noticeable between 6 and 8 weeks after the procedure. Best results are seen about 6 months after treatment. At this time, we usually suggest getting a second treatment. After that, maintenance treatments should be done once a year to maintain results.
