The days leading up to your breast augmentation consultation are filled with emotions like excitement, nervousness and hopefulness. It can all get a bit overwhelming and might make it difficult for you to plan for your big day.
You want to show up prepared so that everything goes smoothly. But what do you need to do in advance? And what items should you bring with you?
The #1 Item to Bring
In truth, you don’t need to show up to a breast augmentation consult armed with a suitcase of items. You should be able to have a successful consult so long as you bring one particular item.
A simple sports bra.
The top item to bring is a simple sports bra, but there are other items you might want to have as well.
Not the kind with the shaped cups and underwires and a complex system of support and bounce reduction. Think the cheap kind you can buy at big box stores, three to a pack. This type of bra is ideal for allowing the implant sizers to sit fairly naturally on your chest and help you see how different volumes will change your appearance.
But if a simple sports bra feels like it isn’t quite enough for you to be truly prepared for your consultation, there are other items you can bring along.
Secondary Items to Bring to a Breast Augmentation Consult
While you don’t want to go overboard, the following items could enhance your consultation experience.
- A Vision Board — Whether this is a physical board or one on Pinterest, if you have been assembling inspirational photos, outfits, quotes and other items, you are more than welcome to share these with your cosmetic surgeon. Anything that can help them better understand your goals will be helpful.
- Photos — Do you have photos of yourself that illustrate where you feel your chest is lacking and can help you communicate what you want to change? Bring these along to your appointment.
- Dream Outfits: It’s a great idea to bring along a dream outfit or two to try on with your sizers so you can see which volumes get you the look you want.
- Your Questions — Don’t just keep these in your head. It is easy to get caught up in the moment and forget to ask the questions that are most important to you. Be sure to write them down so you can reference them as you speak with your cosmetic surgeon.
- Your Calendar — If you think you will be ready to schedule your surgery the same day as your consultation, you should ensure you have your calendar with you when you go. This way, you can pin down an exact date for your procedure.
Just remember that while you want to be prepared for your breast augmentation consultation, you don’t want to overthink things — this isn’t as serious as packing for your actual procedure. Your breast consult should be a positive experience, so adding stress where it doesn’t need to be can quickly turn something positive into a negative. Try to keep it as simple and natural for you as possible, and remember that you can opt for a second appointment later on if you feel like you have more things to discuss.
