5 Questions to Ask at Your Rhinoplasty Consultation

Rhinoplasty Consultation

The first step to getting the new look you want from your rhinoplasty procedure is to schedule an in-person consultation with your plastic surgeon. If you haven’t yet chosen a plastic surgeon for your nose job, use your consultation experience as a way of narrowing down your search to help you choose the best fit for you.

When you go in for your office visit, here are five important questions you’ll want to ask to help you get the most out of your rhinoplasty consultation.

  1. Are You Board-Certified?

One of the most important characteristics you should be looking for when deciding on a plastic surgeon for your rhinoplasty is board certification. This ensures that he or she has had extensive training and experience performing plastic surgery procedures, thus giving you peace of mind that you’ll get the best possible results and have a smooth and safe overall experience.

It can also be helpful to ask which board certifications your plastic surgeon has to see if there are specifics areas on which he or she focuses.

  2. How Many Rhinoplasties Have You Performed in the Past?

Even though a particular plastic surgeon may be board-certified, if he or she doesn’t have experience performing rhinoplasties, that practice is probably not the best fit for you. Don’t be afraid to ask how many nose jobs your plastic surgeon has performed in the past, as well as how many of those previous clients went on to have some type of revision surgery.

This information can give you a better idea of the quality of results you might be able to expect yourself should you choose to work with this practice.

  3. Am I a Good Candidate for a Nose Job?

Your rhinoplasty consultation is also an opportunity to discuss your needs and goals in detail with your plastic surgeon. Having realistic expectations going into your procedure is key to a successful outcome. Ask your plastic surgeon if he or she thinks that your goals are realistically achievable, as well as whether or not a nose job is the most appropriate solution.

Depending on your goals, combining nonsurgical procedures like injectable fillers with your rhinoplasty may enhance your results.

  4. Do You Have Before & After Photos I Could See?

Most reputable plastic surgeons will be happy to provide before and after photos of past results they’ve been able to achieve. Not only can these photos give you a good idea of the surgical skill and expertise of that particular plastic surgeon, but they can also help you to better determine what you want to get out your own rhinoplasty procedure.

Keep in mind, though, that while using photos as references during your consultation can be helpful, your goal shouldn’t be to look like someone else entirely. Instead, the goal of your nose job should be to highlight and enhance your natural features.

  5. What Can I Do to Prepare for My Rhinoplasty?

Once you’ve chosen a plastic surgeon, it’s a good idea to ask for a few tips to help you prepare for the day of your procedure. While you’ll most likely be provided with a detailed list of instructions, make sure you take some time during your visit to go over this information and address any specific questions or concerns you might have.
