Lightweight Silicone
New silicone implants are under development that would weigh 30 percent less than conventional silicone implants. The new implant has a silicone shell, but is filled with other biocompatible materials and has been deemed safe for medical use. Lightweight implants could lessen the likelihood of sagging in patients with implants, especially when implants are large.

The ‘Ideal’ Implant
An innovative new implant currently under trial for FDA approval appears like a standard saline implant from the outside. However, on the inside, the implant is filled with smaller and smaller implant shells nested together, along with saline solution. The layers of implant shells may help prevent rippling, reduce the chance of implant collapse and create a natural breast texture for the saline-filled implant.
